The much-awaited 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is upon us. The marquee annual T20 carnival returns to take centre stage and mesmerise cricket lovers in India and globally from March 22, with ten leading franchises striving for supremacy in one of the game's toughest competitions.

Seventy-four high-octane T20 games will be played over two months across venues in India during IPL 2024 as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) try to defend its crown in an ultimate face-off with their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Gujarat Titans (GT), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Before the tournament begins, the broadcaster, on Sunday (March 3), added to the great sense of excitement brewing in the air by unveiling an attractive and amusing promo for the IPL 2024, with a host of Indian stars playing funny roles.

DC captain Rishabh Pant and LSG skipper KL Rahul, alongside MI leader Hardik Pandya and KKR captain Shreyas Iyer, were all seen during the promo, playing hilarious roles from different walks of life and losing control over their emotions as their favourite team won and lost the game.

Pandya, who returns to the Mumbai franchise following two successful years as captain for the Titans after the controversial one-way trade and sacking of Rohit Sharma, will be seen in action from Sunday (March 24) against his former franchise in Ahmedabad.

Earlier that day, LSG captain Rahul will lead the team on the park against inaugural season champions Royals in Jaipur.

KKR skipper Iyer returns to lead the two-time champions on Saturday (March 23) against the Sunrisers, while Pant could be making his much-awaited IPL comeback with the face-off against PBKS.
