Agha Salman provided the perfect finishing touches to Islamabad United's magnificent victory over Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 on Wednesday (February 28).

The Islamabad franchise's middle-order hero smashed Kings pacer Hasan Ali for a pair of maximums to finish off the proceedings at the National Stadium in Karachi, hammering the experienced Pakistan seamer for consecutive sixes towards the on-side and closing out the game with seven wickets intact.

Hasan Ali even got hammering from Colin Munro, who blasted a 47-ball 82. The best stroke from the left-handed Kiwi's blade was a maximum off a yorker delivery.

As the game stood firmly in his team's grasp with just another nine runs needed off the last 11 deliveries, Salman decided to take the aggressive route and smashed Hasan for two sixes towards his favourite leg-side.

The first of the two sixes was an attempted yorker from the Karachi speedster that Salman dispatched over the mid-wicket region with minimal fuss as the ball found the sweet spot on the right-hander's willow and kept sailing over the ropes.

In response, Hasan went for the bouncer. But the United No.3 was expecting the short-ball and adjusted slightly in his stance before pulling the ball over the backward square leg boundary for another six, which sealed the fate of the game.

Salman finished with an enterprising 25 not out off 17 deliveries after explosive opener Colin Munro (82) and his aggressive partner Alex Hales (47) had laid the perfect foundation to Islamabad's quest of hunting down Kings' modest total of 165/5.

With their resounding victory, the United franchise kept itself in the playoffs contention, winning their second league game after five matches.

They are placed fourth in the points standings and will be hoping to build on their win when they next take on Quetta Gladiators on Saturday (March 2).
