Pathum Nissanka notched up his fourth Test century to take Sri Lanka past Bangladesh on Day 2 of the series-deciding second Test. Dinesh Chandimal also composed a cunning half-century after fast bowler Asitha Fernando and debutant spinner Sonal Dinusha picked up their respective three-fers.

Asitha, Sonal Dinusha Wrap Up Bangladesh For 247

Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando and debutant Sonal Dinusha both picked up their third respective wickets of the innings to fold up Bangladesh within the first nine overs of Day 2. While Fernando trapped Ebadot Hossain in front to claim figures of 3-51, young Dinusha picked up 3-22 as Bangladesh made 247 in less than 80 overs in their first innings.

Pathum Nissanka Puts Sri Lanka On Top With 4th Century

Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka started off with an 88-run partnership with Lahiru Udara, where the latter chipped in with 40 runs from 65 balls before getting plumbed in front by Bangladeshi spinner Taijul Islam.

Thereafter, Nissanka took Sri Lanka past Bangladesh’s 247 by forming a 194-run partnership for the second wicket with senior man and half-centurion Dinesh Chandimal. While Chandimal was denied his century at 93 by Nayeem Hasan, Nissanka went on to a carve 146* from 238 balls to shape his fourth Test hundred.

Night watchman Prabath Jayasuriya survived the final couple of overs to steer Sri Lanka to 290-2 from 78 overs by stumps.
