In an unfortunate turn of events, ace speedster Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of action due to injury. The South African fast bowler has sustained a stress reaction, which has sidelined him from competitive cricket for an indefinite period.

Nortje To Miss Plenty Of Cricket Due To Stress Reaction

South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje has suffered frequent injury setbacks in his six-year-long international career. Hailed for his ability to make the ball talk at a rapid pace, Nortje has missed plenty of action of late, having played only two matches, both during his IPL 2025 stint with Kolkata Knight Riders.

According to ESPNCricinfo, Anrich Nortje's stress reaction is the reason why Cricket South Africa (CSA) didn't consider him for the upcoming T20I Tri-Nation series in Zimbabwe. He was also supposed to join the Los Angeles Knight Riders squad, but the unfortunate injury jeopardised his MLC 2025 campaign.

South Africa's all-format coach, Shukri Conrad, revealed that the management is still unaware of how much time Nortje will take to recover from the injury. However, he stressed that the Proteas would do everything possible to ensure a comeback for the 31-year-old cricketer, who has been a victim of major injury setbacks.

"Naturally we are worried. In Anrich's case this is the second or third stress reaction in his back. It is too early to make a diagnosis and we are definitely not drawing a line through this name. He is 31 years old and we are going to give him every chance to come back. We will have to see what the medical team think is the best way forward," Conrad was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo

Nortje, who debuted in 2019, has played only 83 international matches, scalping 159 wickets across formats. His last appearance in South African colours came in last year's T20 World Cup final against India in Barbados.
