RCB fanatic and all-time great Virat Kohli attained a significant T20 batting milestone through the course of his run-chase masterclass against Punjab Kings at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The legendary cricketer punched out a dignified 77 off 49 deliveries to set up RCB’s four-wicket victory in their first home game of the IPL 2024 season on March 25.

Notably, Virat Kohli also joined fellow T20 heavyweights Chris Gayle and David Warner in an elite batting club through his match-winning knock, thus becoming only the third cricketer and first Indian for an illustrious record.

Virat Kohli completes 100 fifty-plus scores in T20s

Virat Kohli listed his 92nd T20 half-century through his imposing 77-run knock against Punjab Kings. As it turned out, the innings also marked Kohli’s 100th score of fifty or more in the format, thus becoming only the third cricketer in T20s rich history after West Indies batting barbarian Chris Gayle and Australia’s opening dynamite David Warner to do so.

While Gayle has charted 110 fifty-plus scores from 463 T20 matches with 88 half-centuries and 22 tons, active Delhi Capitals opening batsman Warner has conjured 109 of them with 101 fifties and eight centuries.

As of now, Virat Kohli sits on an illustrious pile of 100 scores of fifty or above in all T20 cricket, achieving the feat in his 378th game.

Pakistan legend Babar Azam is not too far down the list, as he might well become the fourth entrant into this elite batting club within the coming months. The ‘Men in Green’ batter has so far listed 98 fifty-plus scores from 290 innings, and is on course to break David Warner’s record of becoming the quickest to get to the landmark figure.

Remarkably, Virat Kohli has piled up 38 of his 100 fifty-plus scores as India’s T20I representative. The legendary right-hander is already leading the race at the international level, leaving behind Babar Azam (36) and national teammate Rohit Sharma (34) in a significant list.

Virat Kohli can enhance his tally even further during this hectic T20 season. He is currently slated to reprise his role for the RCB franchise against the KKR next-up on March 29. The match will be staged at Bengaluru, thus marking RCB’s second home game of the IPL 2024 season.
