The International Cricket Council (ICC) have sent a delegation team to Pakistan in a bid to monitor the security arrangements and stadium inspections for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Back in December 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) acquired hosting rights of the tournament from the ICC.

While it is still unclear if the BCCI and the Indian government will be sending Team India to Pakistan, the ICC delegation will soon examine PCB’s preparations for the multi-nation event in Karachi.

The ICC delegation team has arrived in Pakistan and will soon inspect the Karachi Stadium. The ICC team will also be speaking with the stadium management, authorities and the law enforcement agencies to inspect the security measures and arrangements put in place for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

As per reports, the delegation team will also travel to Lahore and Rawalpindi, considering the two cities are also in line to host the Champions Trophy matches.

The PCB has hosted a number of visiting parties in Pakistan in the last couple of years, including teams like Australia, England and New Zealand. Even though the board pulled off each of their recent home assignments with much success, the BCCI continues to take a strong stance against sending Indian team to Pakistan citing the prevailing geo-political tensions between the two neighboring countries.

Recent reports have indicated that India might play their share of 2025 Champions Trophy matches in UAE. Back in mid-2023, the ‘Men in Blue’ played their 2023 Asia Cup fixtures in Sri Lanka even though Pakistan was originally designated as the sole hosts for the continental event.

Regardless, the 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to be played in Pakistan between February and March next year. The tournament marks a return to the ODI lore after a gap of eight years, with Pakistan lifting the 2017 title in England.
