In a candid post game interview, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis credited Dinesh Karthik, Mahipal Lomor and Virat Kohli for their timely contributions in the tricky chase vs PBKS but also called out rooms for improvements going ahead in the tournament simultaneously.

RCB finally has some points on the table after trashing Punjab Kings in a last-over thriller finish on Monday. Chasing 177 runs, Virat Kohli set the platform with a classy 77 runs knock.

With the game hanging in the balance,  impact sub-Mahipal Lomror and Dinesh Karthik finished in style to guide RCB through the finish line.

Faf disappointed with RCB's win

However, despite the enthralling win, RCB captain Faf du Plessis was not overjoyed and pointed out room for improvement during the post-game interview.

Faf said while he is relieved to have registered a win, the game should have been finished a little early, considering the commanding position RCB had during Kohli's innings. But wickets at regular intervals stretched the game unnecessarily to the final over.

"Not as much on the inside, but obviously early in the competition, you want to make sure you get over the line. I felt we were in a position there where perhaps could have done a little bit sooner. But great to see the boys with the composure at the back end there," Faf said.

Faf continued his chat by crediting Dinesh Karthik for his 10-ball 28 runs innings.

"It's crucial for players like him to perform in the IPL to boost their confidence for the rest of the tournament. With many games ahead, his experience will be extremely valuable. In the auction, there was a plan to find players suited for this unique ground with its different pitch," Faf continued further.

Notably, Faf du Plessis stated how Virat Kohli's knock was crucial on an atypical Chinnaswamy wicket. It wasn't a flat deck, but Kohli used his skills and experience to perfection.

"Players like Virat were essential because this pitch isn't typical. It's refreshing to see Virat still passionate about cricket after a nice break, as being fresh towards the end of the tournament is important." he concluded.

Faf ended the conversation saying that Virat Kohli's return to form post a much needed wellness break is a refreshing sign for RCB.
