Mumbai continued their dominant run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26, beating Chhattisgarh with a comfortable nine wickets margin. And guiding the chase was Angkrish Raghuvanshi, cool as ice, confident as ever.
While chasing a modest target of 143, Mumbai never found themselves under pressure, as Angkrish played a mature, unbeaten knock of 68 off 66 balls, taking his team across the finish line with ease.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi bounces back after a freak injury
The 21-year-old struck six fours and two sixes, showing a fine balance between caution and aggression as Mumbai reached the target in just 24 overs to seal a 9-wicket win.
Angkrish’s knock was particularly important given the context around him. Just days earlier, the Mumbai and KKR batter had suffered a nasty injury while fielding in another Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Jaipur.
He was stretchered off the field and rushed to the hospital for scans after hurting his head and shoulder while attempting a diving catch.
Fans and his teammates, too, were worried as Angkrish was in considerable pain and unable to move his neck.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi, however, responded to this with a tremendous amount of character to come back strongly. Walking out to open the innings, he looked composed from the start, focusing on rotating the strike and punishing loose deliveries.
Though his opening partner, Ishan Mulchandani, was struggling to get into his groove and was out for 19, Angkrish held firm at one end.
He went on to anchor an unbeatable 102-run partnership with Siddhesh Lad, who played a fluent 48*. Together, the pair made sure Mumbai finished the game without any late drama.
Earlier in the match, Mumbai’s bowlers had laid the platform by dismissing Chhattisgarh for 142 in 38.1 overs, with Shams Mulani (5/31) and Shardul Thakur (4/13) doing most of the damage.
With 3 wins in as many games, Mumbai have topped the Group C table with 12 points and a +2.427 NRR.
