St Lucia Kings overcame St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in a high-scoring thriller at St Kitts in match number five of the CPL 2024 season.

Here’s the timeline of how SKNP vs SLK panned out in St Kitts:

SKNP vs SLK Highlights: Evin Lewis Steadies Patriots After Fletcher Runout

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots lost captain Andre Fletcher to an unfortunate runout in just the third ball of the match for a single. Departing back to the sheds early in the innings, Fletcher’s exit was succeeded by a barrage of blitzing powerplay boundaries by opening batter Evin Lewis and number three Kyle Mayers.

The two explosive cricketers leathered St Lucia Kings’ new-ball attack to set up a 54-run powerplay start for their side.

SKNP vs SLK Highlights: Lewis, Mayers Bitz Sets Up Patriots’ 201

Evin Lewis went on to slap an electric ton, the sixth of his T20 career, to take his side past the 200-run mark with Kyle Mayers. Lewis smeared seven boundaries and nine sixes in his 54-ball hundred, and shared 199 runs for the second wicket before Mayers’ dismissal to David Wiese in the final over of the innings.

Mayers himself cracked a turbulent 62-ball 92 with six boundaries and seven maximums as Patriots formed a staggering 201-3 from 20 overs.

SKNP vs SLK Highlights: Mayers, Nortje Crumble Kings Top-Order

Chasing 202, St Lucia Kings lost four wickets in their first four overs to crash to 24-4 at one stage of the innings. Half-centurion with the bat, Kyle Mayers delivered the first couple of breakthroughs for the Patriots by getting rid of Johnson Charles and Ackeem Auguste in his opening spell.

Anrich Nortje also put the new-ball to good use for his team by dismissing Faf du Plessis and Roston Chase in the space of just four deliveries to enforce the early arrival of Kings number six Tim Seifert into the crease.

SKNP vs SLK Highlights: Swift 60s From Rajapaksa, Seifert Seal Chase For Kings

Overcoming early setbacks, St Lucia Kings middle-order batters Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Tim Seifert shared 103 runs together from just 43 deliveries to set up an exciting run-chase for their team. Seifert, in particular, exploded with six sixes and four boundaries in his 27-ball knock to smack 64 runs.

After Seifert’s dismissal to Odean Smith, Rajapaksa took up the aggressor’s role and slapped a similar knock to blaze his side to victory. The raging Sri Lankan batter took a special liking to Tabraiz Shamsi in the slog overs and finished at an unbeaten 68 from 35 balls with six boundaries and four sixes. David Wiese also made 34* off 20 as St Lucia Kings sealed their monumental chase by a landslide (five wickets and 16 balls to spare).
