Pakistan's white-ball skipper, Babar Azam, is going through one of the worst phases of his career. The right-hand batter has had a terrible series with the bat against Bangladesh.

In the first Test against The Tigers, Babar scored a silver duck and nearly followed it with another duck. In the ongoing game as well, Azam disappointed his fans after Shakib Al Hasan trapped him in front of the wicket, and the former red-ball skipper departed for 31 (77).

Fans Furious With Babar

Babar has not scored a Test fifty since December 2022, and it has been 15 matches since his last 50. Amid his poor run with the bat, several fans and cricket pundits have even raised eyebrows over his place in the team and are demanding his ouster from the playing XI.

However, Babar is also receiving a lot of support from his fans in his tough phase, and even a few cricketers too have defended Azam. The latest to join the bandwagon is ex-RCB star batter Dinesh Karthik.

“Babar Azam as a player, nobody can doubt his quality. He’s got outstanding batting potential, though I feel he’s under a lot of pressure as a skipper. That’s something that they need to rethink about,” Karthik said on Cricbuzz’s HeyCB with DK show.

Dinesh Karthik Slams Pakistan's Decision To Declare In First Test

It is worth noting that Pakistan are trailing 0-1 in the ongoing two-match series as they suffered a 10-wicket defeat in the first Test match. The fans were miffed over the team's decision to declare the innings. Meanwhile, Karthik too has slammed the decision.

“Pakistan now in that Test match against Bangladesh; I thought they declared a touch too early in the first inning. In Asia, it’s about batting big and batting long in the first inning,” he said.

In the ongoing match, Pakistan started the day 3 on a high, but after stumps, they are 9/2 and lead by just 21 runs.
