The Warner Park in St. Kitts is currently witness 'the battle of the Saints', as St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St. Lucia Kings are playing against each other in the fifth game of the CPL 2024. The Patriots were put to bat in the game after Faf du Plessis won the toss.

Mayers and Lewis took Patriots to a formidable total

The Patriots lost their skipper, Andre Fletcher early in the innings. However, Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers took off after that and propelled their team towards a formidable total. Lewis and Mayers stitched together a partnership of 199 runs and ensured that the team went past the 200 mark. While Evin Lewis scored a brilliant Hundred, Kyle Mayers fell short of the magic figure by just eight runs.

Mayers did not stop after the brilliant batting display. He followed it up with a couple of wickets in the third over of the innings. After contributing with both the bat and the ball, Kyle Mayers decided to step up on the field too.

Mayers contributed in the field after his all-round performance

He took an unbelievable catch to see the back of St. Lucia skipper, Faf du Plessis, who could have proved dangerous for the Patriots if lasted too long. Anrich Nortje bowled a back of a length delivery on the second ball of the fourth over. Du Plessis was looking to take clear the field but ended up getting a top edge. The ball just went over the infield and was going away towards the fence. However, Mayers ran back and flew in the literal sense of the term to complete a magnificent catch.

Seifert brought Kings back into the game

The Patriots had the game by in their grip as they picked up four quick wickets. However, Tim Seifert brought the Kings back into the game with a counter attacking knock. He scored 64 runs off 27 deliveries and brought the Kings back into the game.

At the time of writing, the Kings are stationed at 191/5 in 16 overs, just 11 runs away from the win.
