The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots are up against the St. Lucia Kings in the fifth match of the CPL 2024 at the Warner Park in St. Kitts. The Patriots were put to bat in the game after Faf du Plessis won the toss.

The Patriots lost their skipper, Andre Fletcher early in the innings and were in a bit of a trouble. However, Kyle Mayers and Evin Lewis did not let the pressure mount on the team as they took the attack to the opposition bowlers. The duo blasted all the bowlers of the Kings to each and every corner of the ground and propelled the team to a formidable total.

Evin Lewis played the role of the aggressor in the partnership. while Mayers joined in the party later. Both Lewis and Mayers completed their half-centuries in style by hitting massive sixes. The duo did not stop after that, they rocketed towards their individual centuries. In the process, Lewis and Mayers broke the record of the highest partnership in CPL. They broke the record of 162 between Chadwick Walton and Chris Gayle

Lewis scored a sparkling 100

It was looking like both the batters will get to their Hundreds easily. However, rain interrupted the proceedings after the fifth ball of the 19th over and messed up the flow of the two southpaws. As they returned after an one hour break, Mayers departed, eight runs short of a well deserved 100. A stellar partnership of 199 runs between the two was broken.

The departure of Mayers, however, did not deter Lewis. The southpaw reached his century with a single of the third delivery in the last over. He stayed unbeaten on 100 off 54 at the end of the innings. Lewis's knock was decorated with seven fours and nine sixes. The Mayers-Lewis partnership ensured that the Patriots posted a massive total of 201/3 on the board at the end of their 20 overs.

At the time of writing, the St Lucia Kings are struggling in the chase at 99/4 in 8.5 overs.
