The clock is ticking for the Indian men in white to be back in action, and the home season will take off with a thrilling two-match Test series against the West Indies. The men in maroon lost their recent home series against Australia 3-0 and will be hoping to change their fortunes in India
West Indies Aim to Challenge The Mighty India on their Home Turf
The first Test is scheduled to start from October 2nd in Ahmedabad before the series moves to Delhi for the second Test from October 10th. However, the Roston Chase-led side will land in India way early and will hold a six-day practice camp in Ahmedabad from September 24 to 29 as reported by Cricbuzz, aiming to acclimatize and be at their best for the Indian subcontinent challenge.
The West Indies announced the touring squad recently, which includes promising left-arm spinners Jomel Warrican and Khary Pierre, alongside captain Roston Chase, who will be the off-spin option. Surprisingly, Gudakesh Motie is not picked for this Test tour in India, despite his excellent form.
Looking at the fast-bowling options, the West Indies coach Daren Sammy is very confident on the current West Indies pace attack with Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Shamar Joseph leading the charge in any given conditions.
Moreover, the Ahmedabad camp will help them to adapt and overcome the batting challenges as well. After finishing up their 6-day camp on 29th September, the West Indies will start their final preparations for the first Test.
On the other hand, the Indian team will reach Ahmedabad on September 29th with most of the players flying from Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, while Captain Shubman Gill will arrive directly from Dubai after concluding India’s Asia Cup campaign.
With a mix of experience and fresh talent, West Indies aim to convert practice into performance and make a strong statement in the opening Test. They would like to replicate what New Zealand did last year in India and also open their winning account in the new World Test Championship cycle.
