In a dominant display of all-round show, South Africa clinched a 7-wickets victory over Bangladesh in Dhaka to secure a 1-0 lead in the two game series. Kyle Verreynne’s ton followed by Kagiso Rabada’s fifer ensured a smooth ride for visitors in the 106-run chase. Meanwhile, Bangladesh looked confused and helpless in home conditions which is a concerning sign.

Here’s the timeline of how BAN vs SA panned out in Mirpur:

BAN vs SA 1st Test Highlights: Mulder, Rabada’s dreadful spells leave Bangladesh in disarray

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first only to be challenged by visitors’ lethal pace attack. South Africa unleashed Wiaan Mulder and Kagiso Rabada from both ends and the duo induced a brutal middle-order collapse. Mulder was getting movement off the pitch and the likes of Mominul and Shanto produced poor shot selection to gift away their key wickets. In no time, Bangladesh were bowled out for 106/10, resulting in a rare collapse at home.

From 112/6, Bangladesh was staring at an inning defeat before Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Jaker Ali produced a remarkable 100+ runs partnership for the seventh wicket. Mehidy missed out on a ton to get dismissed by Rabada on 97, whereas Jaker scored 58 off 111 to power Bangladesh to 307.
