Sarfaraz Khan showed his exemplary game awareness as he forced captain Rohit Sharma to take the DRS which proved to be in India's favour as R Ashwin scalped another wicket in the match.
New Zealand opted to bat first on a spin surface and the decision backfired as they lost the wicket of Tom Latham, which was taken by R Ashwin. Spin was introduced early in the innings and Ashwin didn't disappoint with his brilliant bowling.
However, after the first wicket, New Zealand had a brief partnership between Devon Conway and Will Young. The duo played with caution and kept the scoreboard ticking. India desperately needed a wicket and Ashwin came up to the rescue.
Ashwin delivered an off-break as it spun away and takes the faintest of nick as Young tries to work it down the leg side. Pant looked confident with the appeal and so was Sarfaraz Khan, who looked animated and convinced Rohit to go for the review. It turned out to be a masterstroke as the third umpire did spot an edge and gave the decision in India's favour.
India drop KL Rahul, Siraj and Kuldeep
After a shocking loss in Bengaluru, Team India pressed panic button has they dropped three players from the playing XI - KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav.
KL Rahul had a disasterclass in both the innings and was dropped for the incoming Shubman Gill. Siraj, too, had an average outing as Team Indis draft in Akash Deep in the playing XI. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav makes way for Washington Sundar as India also look to strengthen their batting with Washi's inclusion.
