In a thrilling encounter between India and the USA at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York, Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh made history by becoming the first Indian bowler to take a wicket on the first-ball of a T20 World Cup match.

Arshdeep's stunning performance set the tone for India's dominance in the game, making him only the fourth bowler ever to achieve this feat.

Arshdeep Singh's exceptional start saw him dismiss USA opener Shayan Jahangir with a late inswinger that trapped him LBW.

This remarkable delivery not only put India in a strong position but also placed Arshdeep in an elite group of bowlers who have claimed a wicket on the very first ball of a T20 World Cup match.

Arshdeep's achievement places him alongside Bangladesh's Mashrafe Mortaza, who dismissed an Afghanistan batter on the first ball in the 2014 T20 World Cup, and Afghan bowler Shapoor Zadran, who achieved the same feat against Hong Kong that year.

Namibian pacer Ruben Trumpelmann has managed the feat twice, once against Scotland in 2021 and again against Oman in the ongoing season.

Adding to his impressive performance, Arshdeep concluded his opening over by taking another wicket, dismissing Andries Gous. This left the USA reeling at 3/2 after just one over, marking Arshdeep as the third bowler in the current T20 World Cup to take two wickets in the first over of a match.
