Arshdeep Singh had an exceptional day at the Nassau County International Stadium in the 25th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 12. The left-arm fast bowler delivered a spectacular opening over that set the tone for India’s bowling attack after they invited the USA to bat first.

Arshdeep made an immediate impact, striking twice in his first over. On the very first ball, he removed Shayan Jahangir for a golden duck, giving India an early breakthrough. Arshdeep’s momentum continued as he claimed his second victim, Andries Gous, later in the same over. Gous, having scored just 2 runs, fell to a delivery pitched outside the off stump with extra bounce.

The wicket of Gous was particularly dramatic. Attempting a pull shot, Gous played the stroke late, causing the ball to slice up into the air over the umpire's head.

The moment was filled with tension as the fielders converged, but Hardik Pandya, positioned at mid-off, demonstrated his athletic prowess by running across and making a simple yet crucial catch.

This early double strike was vital for India, setting them up with the upper hand. The USA, who had shown promise in their previous matches, found themselves struggling against India’s pace attack in the power play.

At the time of writing, the USA's score stood at 10 for 2 in 4 overs, with Aaron Jones and Steven Taylor trying to stabilise the innings.
