The left-arm quick talks to Ravi Shastri in post-match interview:

"Very happy with my performance. In the last two games, I gave away too many runs but happy with my performance today. The management keeps backing me and happy to step up today. The wicket is helping us fast bowlers get some seam movement. It was good to bowl here and tried to hit the right areas. The talk in the dressing room was about don't give easy balls to score because our batters will have to work hard to get those runs. In these conditions, you can execute your skills and try to take advantage of the conditions. I spoke with Jasprit Bumrah Paaji and he said you can bowl your yorkers here."

Tucked around the corner to short fine leg scampering across for a quick single. Surya gets to his half century! A well-composed knock from Suryakumar Yadav. Came in to bat when his team was in a tricky position but has held the innings nicely and has brought up his fifty off 49 balls.

Shivam Dube gets one through. Shivam looks to guide through third man region but gets an outside edge. It rolls away past the third man boundary. 50 comes up for India. They require 58 more runs from 54 balls.

Shivam Dube is genuinely struggling here. He steps down to Jasdeep, drives him towards extra cover and tries to scamper through.. however, the fielder throws water on Dube's plan. Delicacy + luck = Boundary for Dube.

That kept super low... Pant could not bring his bat down on time. The ball stays very low and Pant looks to defend it by hanging back but it shoots under the bottom end of the bat to rattle the stumps.

Brilliant shot from Pant. Jasdeep bowls it short, Pant is very quick to pick the length as he swivels and pulls it aerially behind square in the leg side. Jahangir at deep backward square leg misjudges it. He runs in and it sails over his head and lands directly on the boundary cushions.

Here comes the 'Supla Shot'. Nice use of the angle. Netravalkar switches to round the wicket. Bowls it on a length around leg, 128 kmph, Suryakumar gets inside the line of it and just helps it on its way over the fine leg fence for a maximum. Nice wristwork as well.

That's an outstanding catch from Mohammed Siraj. It looked like it would sail over the ropes but Siraj times his jump perfectly and grabs a stunner. He seems alright, didn't have his eyes on the ball it seems.

Shivam Dube gets the ball for the first in T20 World Cup 2024. Nitish Kumar welcomes him with a first ball boundary. Nitish looks to defend it off the backfoot and gets an outside edge that flies through the vacant slip cordon for a boundary. A maximum off Taylor this time as Dube is being taken down.

A top edge and taken by Siraj. Aaron Jones' struggles at the crease come to an end. Hardik bends his back and bangs it short on the stumps, Jones swivels and goes for the pull to fine leg.

India have emerged victorious in their first two games and contrary to what was being said at the start of the tournament, they are now touted as favourites to win the tournament. 

Bowlers have been excellent for the Rohit Sharma-led side, particularly Jasprit Bumrah, whose spell of 14/3 against Pakistan helped India register a miraculous win. 

India have played both their games at the Nassau County Stadium, where the surface has proved to be difficult for the batters, thus it would be unfair to be highly critical of the poor display from the bat by the Indian batters. 

USA

The hosts USA, who were ignored by the pundits when it came to predicting the teams making it to the Super 8 round, shunned the cricketing world when they beat Pakistan. 

The positive for the United States is that the players have not succumbed to the status of the opposition and played according to the situation, which helped them against Pakistan.
