Arshdeep Singh has been in good form in T20 World Cup 2024 so far, and has delivered both with the new ball and old ball. In the game against USA too, he has started off with a bang, taking wicket on the very first ball and then following it up with another wicket on the final delivery of that over.
The first-ball wicket of Shayan Jahangir who replaced skipper Monank Patel, was especially a treat to watch. It was a classical left-arm seamer wicket with ball coming in nicely into middle and leg. Jahangir tried to defend it, but he did not get any bat on it and as the ball hit his pad, it looked dead plumb. Arshdeep also knew it and went on a celebrappeal as the umpire raised his finger in a flash.

The batter did not bother to take the DRS and USA were rocked further with a wicket of in-form Andries Gous on the final delivery off a shortish delivery. It is the first time that an Indian bowler has taken wicket on the first ball of T20 World Cup match. Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bowl first and the captain Rohit Sharma would be pretty happy with how his young pacer has started off the proceedings.
