RCB all-rounder Krunal Pandya led from the front with a stunning unbeaten century as Baroda piled up a massive 417/4 against Hyderabad in their Vijay Hazare Trophy clash in Rajkot on Wednesday.
Walking in with the top order already setting the tone, the Baroda captain smashed a quick-fire 109* off only 63 deliveries, hitting the ball crisply in every direction of the field.
His innings, filled with crisp boundaries and smart running, ensured Baroda did not slow down at any stage of the innings.
Baroda top-order ruthlessly humiliates Hyderabad
Before Krunal Pandya took charge, Baroda’s top order had already laid the perfect platform through two superb centuries.
Nitya Pandya and Amit Pasi produced a commanding opening partnership that completely took Hyderabad’s bowlers out of the contest.
The duo stitched together a mammoth 230-run stand for the first wicket. Nitya was the anchor of the partnership, scoring 122 off 110 balls.
At the other end, Pasi played the aggressor’s role, smashing 127 off just 93 balls.
Even after the openers departed, Baroda never lost momentum. A brief wobble saw two quick wickets fall, but Krunal Pandya ensured there was no collapse.
He found excellent support from Bhanu Pania, who chipped in with a handy 42 not out off 27 balls, as the pair added an unbroken 115-run stand to finish the innings on a high.
As a result of this run riot, Baroda put 417 runs on the board at the loss of just 4 wickets. For Hyderabad, Rakshann and Nitin Yadav conceded 75 and 77 runs, respectively.
The fielding side was left chasing leather as Baroda scored at an imposing run rate of 8.34 runs per over.
Notably, Baroda are placed fourth in Group B with 8 points, while Hyderabad have slipped to seventh place with zero points.
