Australia Champions fast bowler John Hasting erred multiple times in his line and length while bowling his first over of the innings against Pakistan Champions in match number 14 of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 season. The speedster sent down as many as 12 wides and one no-ball, as Pakistan extracted 20 runs from those five legal deliveries to romp to a comfortable 10-wicket win at Grace Road in Leicester.
He was called up by captain Brett Lee after Pakistan Champions reached 55-0 from the first seven overs of their run-chase. Chasing a paltry target of 75, Pakistan maintained their unbeaten run this tournament.
Hastings Sends Down 12 Wides And One No-Ball For Five Deliveries
John Hastings sent down three-overs worth of deliveries to complete just five balls in his first over of the innings against Pakistan Champions on Tuesday, July 29. Tasked to bowl the eighth over of the innings, Hastings started off with five straight wides before getting it right.
After bowling two consecutive legal deliveries, the 39-year-old bowled a no-ball and followed it up with another wide. He also sneaked in a dot ball in the over before finishing off the proceedings with another sequence of five straight wides.
Pakistan Champions openers Sharjeel Khan (32* off 23) and Sohaib Maqsood (28* off 26) took full toll off Hastings’ struggles, as they sealed the chase before the end of the over itself to win the match by 10 wickets and with 73 balls to spare.
