In the latest development, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has officially parted ways with head coach Chandrakant Pandit and Reportedly with bowling coach Bharat Arun. Arun is in high demand, and the former India bowling coach could join the CSK support staff ahead of the IPL 2026 season.

Ahead of the 2022 IPL season, KKR roped in Arun as their bowling coach, and he had a successful stint, helping KKR win the IPL title in the 2024 season. Under him, several bowlers emerged, such as Harshit Rana, and Vaibhav Arora.

The decision comes as a shock, since Arun had done his part well, but last season was underwhelming for the franchise, as they failed to qualify for the playoffs, and the bowlers lacked the cutting edge to take wickets.

What led to Chandrakant Pandit's exit?

Chandrakant Pandit, a seasoned veteran, was heavily criticised last season for his strict coaching style, performance issues within the team, and player dissatisfaction.

He is known for his militant style coaching, which reportedly didn't suit well with the KKR overseas players, and some of them even lodged a complaint against him.

There were also reports last season that Pandit questioned one of the overseas stars for dining with a rival player, even though the two were teammates at the national level. KKR were the defending champions heading into the 2025 season, and with the franchise failing to deliver the goods, pressure mounted on Pandit.

Who could replace Pandit and Arun in the KKR side?

As per reports, KKR is considering bringing in their former captain, Eoin Morgan, as the potential replacement for Chandrakant Pandit. Under Morgan, the franchise did well, and even reached the finals in 2021.

Dwayne Bravo, who is the KKR mentor, could potentially take over as the role of bowling coach, replacing Arun. Bravo had a successful T20 career, and could guide KKR to new heights under his leadership.
