The England cricket team is set to go up against Australia Prime Minister’s XI later this year for additional warm-up for the 2025-26 Ashes series. The match will be played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra between the first and second Tests of the tour.
The match will also mark England’s first-ever multi-day meeting with Prime Minister’s XI, considering the two sides have been typically engaging in limited-overs affairs.
England Gets Pink-Ball Warm-Up Before Gabba Challenge
The England cricket team will start off its Ashes 2025-26 tour later this year by playing an intra-squad match against England Lions at the Lilac Hill Park in Parth between November 13 and November 15. Ben Stokes and co. will eventually face Australia in the series-opening first Test from November 21 onwards at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
While the Englishmen are scheduled to go up against the hosts for a pink-ball affair at The Gabba in Brisbane from December 4, they have now received a timely pink-ball rehearsal against the Australia Prime Minister’s XI, scheduled between the opening two Tests at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
The two-day day-night fixture will be played on November 29 and November 30, thus marking the first multi-day meeting between the two sides.
As further confirmed by cricket.com.au, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that he is looking forward to discussing the squad with the selection committee.
Coinciding with the first Test of the series, England Lions will also be facing a Cricket Australia XI team between November 21 and November 24 at the Lilac Hill Park. England Lions will then face Australia A players at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane between December 5 and December 8 at the time of the second Test.
