Leeds witnessed a masterclass in timeless power-hitting as Kamran Akmal, the 43-year-old wicketkeeper-batter who retired from professional cricket in 2023, rolled back the years with a scintillating century for Pakistan Champions against West Indies Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL).

His explosive 113 off just 62 balls propelled Pakistan to a commanding 200/4, setting up a 49-run victory that showcased his undimmed brilliance.

Akmal Turns Back the Clock

Giving his fans a dose of PSL nostalgia, where he scored a century off just 48 balls, walking in with Sharjeel Khan 21 (14), Kamran Akmal unleashed a whirlwind of timing and power that left the Windies attack helpless.

Akmal struck 13 fours and 5 sixes in a 62-ball masterclass, dominating partnerships with Sohaib Maqsood (17 off 13) and skipper Mohammad Hafeez (23 off 18). Akmal threaded gaps effortlessly while hammerring dismissive pulls.

Notably, Akmal reached his 50 in 30 balls and accelerated to triple figures in just 26 deliveries. Undoubtedly, Akmal's heroics earned him the Player of the Match award and catapulted him to second place in the WCL 2025 run-scoring charts.

Windies Struggle With Both The Bat And The Ball

Akmal's century anchored Pakistan's imposing total. Despite losing partners, he maintained a strike rate of 182.25, ensuring the scoreboard pressure mounted. Asif Ali and Shoaib Malik provided a late flurry to reach the 200-mark.

Meanwhile, West Indies' chase never gained momentum. Rumman Raees (3/4 in 3 overs) delivered a devastating spell upfront, removing Chris Gayle (5), Lendl Simmons (0), and Dwayne Smith (3) to reduce them to 26/3.

Chadwick Walton (42 off 30, 5 sixes) and William Perkins (30 off 26) offered brief resistance, but Aamer Yamin (2/23) and Sohail Tanvir (2/24) ensured the middle order crumbled. Dwayne Bravo's unbeaten 30 was a lone hand as WI finished at 151/7.
