Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan recently announced his engagement to long-time girlfriend Sophie Shine, with the couple sharing the happy news through a dreamy picture posted on their Instagram handles.

Shikhar Dhawan took to his official Instagram handle to post the engagement photo, which appeared to be from a private ceremony attended by close family members and friends.

Sharing the special moment, Dhawan uploaded the picture around 5 p.m. IST with the caption, Shikhar and Sophie, along with the message, “From shared smiles to shared dreams, grateful for the love, the blessings and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever.”

The picture saw Sophie holding Shikhar Dhawan’s hand while they flaunted their engagement rings in front of a dreamy rose-decorated setup that read, “The beginning of forever.”

The post quickly garnered thousands of likes, with congratulatory messages pouring in from across the cricketing fraternity and the Bollywood film industry as well, with many actors and actresses wishing the couple with congratulatory messages.

Shikhar Dhawan’s past marriage life

For those unaware, Shikhar Dhawan married Ayesha Mukherjee in 2012. However, after nearly nine years of marriage, differences seeped into the cracks between the couple, leading to their separation.

In 2023, Dhawan granted a divorce from Ayesha on the grounds of cruelty, which also resulted in a custody battle over their son, Zoravar. The 40-year-old was also found recounting the hard days when he was blocked from speaking to his son during the custody battle.

How did Dhawan meet Sophie Shine?

Notably, a few years before the divorce was officially filed, Dhawan met Sophie Shine, an Abu Dhabi-based product consultant working with a multinational firm, and the two initially developed a friendship.

In late 2024, Sophie was seen accompanying Dhawan at several public events, sparking rumours about their relationship following his divorce. By May 2025, the couple made their relationship official on social media, and they are now reportedly planning a dreamy wedding in February 2026.
