Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, who retired from all forms of professional cricket back in October 2024, is all set to get married to his long-term girlfriend Sophia Shine in a private ceremony in Delhi NCR in February, hosting only close friends, cricketers and celebrities.

The Indian-Irish couple had made their relationship public in the middle of 2025 after the cricketer legally separated from his first wife back in October 2023. However, Dhawan and Sophie were also spotted together in public in the lead-up to publicly announcing the love story. Sophie was also spotted at the Mullanpur Stadium, wearing the PBKS jersey back in 2024, which was the cricketer's last IPL season.

Dhawan to marry in a closed ceremony

As quoted by Hindustan Times, a close source to the development revealed, "It’s a new beginning, and they are treating it with quiet happiness and a lot of gratitude," and that Dhawan is closely involved in the planning and organising of the event, which will be organised in Delhi NCR.

There is a possibility that current and former stars close to Dhawan, like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina, among others, would be invited to the ceremony, alongside some other public figures as well.

It is learnt that the duo met in Dubai back in 2023, and gradually the friendship solidified into a close relationship, leading to a wedding. The duo is also known to be living together for a considerable amount of time in India — the former left-hand batter also occasionally posts about them celebrating events and festivals together.

Previously, Dhawan was married to Ayesha Mukherjee, who now lives in Australia, and the two also have a son together named Zoravar Dhawan, who has also appeared alongside the player in some interviews back in the day. It is openly known that the couple had a serious fall-out and are in no contact as things stand.
