The Bangladesh–India T20 World Cup 2026 row has been making waves and grabbing headlines ever since Mustafizur Rahman’s exit from KKR ahead of IPL 2026. The controversy has now spilt over into the Bangladesh Premier League as well, where Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi reportedly lost his cool during a press interaction.
Mohammad Nabi was allegedly furious when a reporter asked for his opinion on the ongoing controversy involving Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman and KKR.
Mohammad Nabi sharply responds to Mustafizur-KKR saga
The Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi responded sharply, stating that he had nothing to do with the issue and should not be questioned about it.
Speaking during the post-match press conference following the BPL clash between Noakhali Express and Dhaka Capitals, Nabi strongly reacted to the query, saying that he has nothing to do with politics and is not even related to Mustafizur Rahman.
“Iska merese kya lena dena bhai. Mera Mustafizur se kya kaam hai? Politics me kya kaam hai mera? (What do I have to do with it? How am I related to Mustafizur? I don't have anything to do with politics). I know he is a good bowler, all these things. But the way you are questioning, it's not related to me,” Mohammad Nabi responded to the reporter.
ICC yet to respond to BCB's request
Meanwhile, the standoff between Bangladesh and India has intensified, with the matter now awaiting clarity from the International Cricket Council. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has formally requested a venue change for the T20 World Cup 2026, stating that they do not feel safe playing in India.
The BCB has cited concerns over players’ safety amid anti-Muslim sentiments reportedly circulating on Indian social media and religious groups.
With Bangladesh standing firm on its position and the ICC yet to issue a formal response, recent developments suggest that two Indian venues, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram, are being considered as alternative locations.
Bangladesh could be scheduled to play their matches at these stadiums within India instead of moving the fixtures to Sri Lanka.
