Actor and Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta has strongly reacted to fake photos being circulated on social media that show her hugging RR's 14-year-old player Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The actor called out the morphed image and expressed disbelief that even news channels had picked it up as a legitimate news item.
On Monday, various social media platforms began circulating visuals reportedly showing Preity Zinta sharing a hug with young cricketer Vaibhav during the IPL clash between PBKS and RR at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Preity Zinta Calls Out Fake Narrative
Soon after the images went viral, Preity Zinta took to her official social media account to refute the claims. Reposting a news story that featured the morphed image, she wrote, “This is a morphed image and fake news. Am so surprised now news channels are also using morphed images and featuring them as news items.”
What The Real Video Shows?
It is important to note that the original footage of the interaction was shared by the official RR handle on X. The video, captioned “Flex levels at school: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi,” clearly shows Preity Zinta having a short and polite exchange with Vaibhav but contains no footage of a hug.
The video begins with Preity chatting briefly with RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. After concluding that conversation with a quick “Nice meeting you,” she approaches PBKS player Shashank Singh and expresses a desire to meet the young cricket prodigy, saying, “Come, let's go say hi to him.”
She then meets Vaibhav Suryavanshi. In the brief clip, they exchange greetings, share a few words, and shake hands. The background of the video features the track ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, seemingly chosen to highlight the fanboy moment.
In this match PBKS secured a 10-run victory over Rajasthan Royals after defending a strong total of 219 runs to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
