Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Nicholas Pooran lost his cool after getting run out during a must-win Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Stadium on Monday. The moment happened in the last over of LSG’s innings and led to a fiery reaction from Pooran once he returned to the dressing room.

LSG had a good start with the bat, putting up a solid total of 205 runs for 7 wickets. Mitchell Marsh scored 65, Aiden Markram added 61, and Pooran himself played a fast-paced innings of 45 from 26 balls. But in the final over, Pooran slipped trying to take a second run, and then got run out trying to sneak in a quick run. SRH wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan hit the stumps directly, and Pooran was out.

Pooran was visibly upset. Cameras showed him throwing his gloves in frustration in the dressing room after LSG’s last batter, Abdul Samad, was dismissed. Pooran was seen shouting and making animated gestures. Team captain Rishabh Pant was also seen nearby during the outburst.

Despite posting a strong total, LSG couldn’t stop SRH’s powerful batting. Abhishek Sharma hit a blazing 59 from just 20 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen added 47 runs from 28 balls. SRH chased down the target easily, winning the match by six wickets.

This defeat meant LSG were officially out of the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs, becoming the fifth team to be eliminated. Pooran, despite his team’s struggles, has been a standout performer this season with 455 runs from 12 matches.

LSG will now play their two remaining matches against Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
