The first One Day International (ODI) match between Australia and Pakistan on October 4 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was full of excitement, both on and off the field. The match, however, had a unique twist when Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin made a surprise appearance—though not as part of the game.
Coincidentally, Coldplay were there in Melbourne for their show, and Martin had a mishap that became a hot topic. In an unexpected moment during the concert, Martin had an accident that left fans stunned. While interacting with the audience, he accidentally stepped backward into an open trap door on stage. This door was part of the concert’s elaborate setup, and as he fell, the audience gasped in shock.
For the unversed, Coldplay is a popular British rock band known for their catchy, anthemic songs and emotional lyrics. It was formed way back in 1996, the band includes lead vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion. They rose to fame with their 2000 album Parachutes, which included the hit single "Yellow."
AUS Vs PAK: Pakistan Four Down Against Mighty Australia
Returning to the cricket action, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first against Pakistan in the ODI. This decision quickly paid off as Mitchell Starc delivered an impressive performance with the ball. Starc dismissed Pakistan’s debutant, Saim Ayub, for just 1 run and soon after, sent Abdullah Shafique back to the pavilion.
Adam Zampa then took the key wicket of Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, who managed a quick 37 runs before falling to Zampa’s sharp delivery. By the 20th over, Pakistan were seen struggling, having lost four wickets, placing them in a challenging position early in the game.
