India’s blockbuster 2024 T20 World Cup clash against arch-rivals Pakistan lived up to its hype at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York on June 9. 

In front of a near-capacity crowd, the ‘Men in Blue’ escaped a low-scoring thriller with a six-run win, with ace paceman Jasprit Bumrah bagging the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

In a rare occurrence for an India vs Pakistan neutral game, the New York-based venue witnessed a healthy crowd support for both nations. 

One particular Pakistan cricket fan, who became an internet sensation last year for choosing Virat Kohli over Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, also attended the venue to witness the blockbuster Group A showdown.


Pakistan-based Virat Kohli fan once again goes viral

A particular Pakistan fan, who went viral during the 2023 Asia Cup for her unwavering support for Indian batting legend Virat Kohli, once again took center-stage at the 2024 T20 World Cup.

During India’s blockbuster Group A match against Pakistan, the fan, reportedly named Fiza Khan, attended the New York-based stadium by wearing a Kohli-themed pendant.

Unfortunately for Fiza Khan, Virat Kohli was dismissed cheaply (four runs) by young Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah in the match. Despite Kohli’s rare batting failure, the Indian team emerged victorious in the game by a narrow margin of six runs.

Jasprit Bumrah played starring role with the ball by picking up figures of 3-14 during the unsuccessful Pakistani run-chase.

Kohli, who also registered just a run to his name against Ireland in India’s tournament opener earlier this month, will now reprise his role against USA on June 12.
