The Pakistan cricket team stumbled to a six-run defeat against India in match number 19 of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup on June 9. Chasing 120 runs for a win, the ‘Men in Green’ managed to score just 113-7 in response on a seamer-friendly Nassau County surface.

Pakistan’s dismal batting performance drew in much criticism from all corners of the Pakistani cricketing fraternity, considering their recent defeat to India marked their second in succession this tournament after having lost to USA on June 6.

Moreover, wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan, who has been often panned for his recent batting struggles and fitness issues, was spotted eating out at a New York street food corner soon after Pakistan’s defeat to India.

Azam Khan, who registered an unwanted duck against USA on June 6, was dropped from the Pakistan playing XI for their must-win match against India.

Apart from his lackluster batting record in T20Is, the cricketer has also been subjected to severe criticisms by fans over his weight and fitness issues.

Soon after Pakistan’s defeat to India on June 9, a video circulated around social media which featured Azam Khan enjoying street food in New York.

While it is yet to determined if the footage itself was indeed recorded after the match, a fan on X implied that the 25-year-old wicketkeeper was undeniably enjoying his meal at the height of his fitness and Pakistan’s performance scrutiny.

Yet to open their account on the Group A points table, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan team will now face Canada at the same New York-based venue on June 11.

In a bid to stay in contention for the Super Eight, Pakistan needs to win each of their remaining two fixtures with emphatic margins and hope for certain exterior results to go their way.
