Kagiso Rabada, South Africa’s lethal fast bowler, made an immediate impact in the crucial T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh by removing Tanzid Hasan, Bangladesh’s promising opener, early in their tricky 114-run chase.

South Africa, currently leading Group D, faced Bangladesh at the New York Stadium earlier today. The Proteas won the toss and surprisingly decided to bat first on a challenging pitch.

They paid the price accordingly, as a top-order collapse reduced them to 23/4 inside the powerplay. However, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller’s partnership propelled SA to 113 runs total, which was below par, to say the least.

That being said, in a tricky chase, Kagiso Rabada led the charge for South Africa as he drew first blood early to put Bangladesh under pressure. On the final delivery of the second over, Kagiso Rabada bowled a length delivery which angled outside off.

The pitch produced some movement as Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan nicked it straight to the keeper. Interestingly, without any convincing appeal from the Proteas, the umpires raised his finger.

Tanzid Hasan was confused as no clear sound was heard when the ball passed the bat. He had a brief chat with his partner and captain Shanto, who advised him to keep walking and not burn a review.

That marked the end of Tanzid Hasan’s 9-run stay at the crease as Bangladesh suffered their first blow in the low-scoring chase.

The game is still open as the Nassau County Stadium pitch has been unpredictable and a nightmare for batters this tournament. While South Africa have to maintain the pressure, Bangladesh must keep nerves and show active game awareness to seal the chase comfortably.
