Sanjana Ganesan, wife of Jasprit Bumrah, revealed that the pacer has transformed into a better cricketer after becoming a father to their son, Angad. The child was born in September 2023 after the couple got married secretly in 2021.

Bumrah met Sanjana during one of his cricket tours, where the latter was working as a presenter. The friendship blossomed into love, and in 2021, the couple got married without anyone’s knowledge. A few years down the line, Sanjana gave birth to their son, Angad, in 2023.

Fatherhood Calmed Jasprit Bumrah, Says Sanjana

Meanwhile, in the latest episode of the ‘Moments of Silence’ podcast, Sanjana Ganesan disclosed that when Angad was born, Jasprit Bumrah left the Asia Cup midway to witness the birth of his first child.

Sanjana added that Bumrah has transformed into a better and more mature cricketer since Angad entered their lives. His approach has been much calmer and more peaceful.

“When we first held our baby in the hospital, Jasprit was playing in the Asia Cup at the time. He flew back as soon as he could. I don’t want to say it but I do think he’s been a better cricketer since Angad came along. Having a peaceful home to come back to really helps him switch off and be a dad and a husband," Sanjana said (via TOI).

In 2023, India played against Nepal on September 4. Bumrah naturally skipped the game and flew back to his wife. However, he returned back quickly before the Super 4 schedule began. He also featured in the final, where India beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets to clinch the title.

When Bumrah Deemed Family More Important Than His Career

For Indian cricket and its fans, Jasprit Bumrah is a generational talent specialising in delivering under pressure situations. He is the go-to saviour for any captain in any format whatsoever.

However, for Bumrah, peace lies with family. In his chat with Michael Clarke in the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, the pacer revealed that family is more important to him than the cricket field.

“For me, family is more important than my career because you know that is constant. There are two things that I take seriously. One is my family, and one is my game, but family comes first. I have to give priority, and I do give priority because I will not be a cricketer all the time. For them, I’m not a cricketer. I’m a human being," Bumrah said (via News 24).

He explained that cricket won’t last forever, but the support and love from his family will. Hence, it's easier for him to prioritise the latter.
