Kagiso Rabada has been a star for South Africa's opening day in the WTC final against Australia at the Lord's. The star pacer crushed the Aussie's confidence when he bagged Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green inside 7 overs. Furthermore, he dashed Australia's high-score hopes with his 5-wicket haul, which also sets a record that surpasses Proteas legend Allan Donald.

Kagiso Rabada Stays Humble After Surpassing Donald

Appreciating his record while acknowledging the legend Allan Donald, Rabada shared a few words after the match.

"It means a lot to get past Allan Donald, what a legend," Rabada said after Day 1 concluded, as quoted by News18.

Notably, Rabada became the fourth-highest wicket-taker for South Africa in Tests, with 332 wickets, and is only surpassed by Dale Steyn, Shaun Pollock, and Makhaya Ntini.

"To be named in that list of bowlers is special. As a player growing up and representing South Africa, I’ve been inspired by those who have come before and seen what they have done on the big stage. To be listed among those names is special and long may it continue," Rabada added.

Confident Rabada Happy With His Performance

On his performance on Day 1, Rabada sounded happy and confident as he spoke about dismantling the Baggy Greens early.

"It means a lot to me to play for South Africa. I have given my all every time. We started well. It means a lot to everyone. I got the rewards today. The pitch did a bit today. There was enough movement on offer. The idea was to put them under pressure," Rabada added.

Notably, Kagiso Rabada's spell on Day 1 was right on the money for South Africa. The Proteas star hunted on Pat Cummins after Green's wicket and cleaned up the tail-enders while scalping Mitchell Starc and Beau Webster in the process. Significantly, Rabada bowled at an economy rate of 3.26 in his 15.4 overs after giving away 51 runs.
