Sai Sudharsan is one of the most exciting young cricketers coming up through India’s domestic circuit. Before he got selected into India’s Test squad for the England series, the 23-year-old impressed the selectors through his first-class records, representing multiple teams like Tamil Nadu and more.

Sudharsan had a year to remember during the IPL 2025 tournament, scoring 759 runs from 15 matches and claiming the orange cap. His consistency earned him massive praise and recognition globally.

Days later, he was called up in India's Test squad for the 5-game series against England beginning on June 20. However, before the IPL, Sudharsan had proved his mettle in first-class cricket.

So far, Sai Sudharsan has played 29 first-class matches, where he has batted 49 times and scored a total of 1957 runs. His highest score is a brilliant 213, showing that he can play long innings when needed.

His average of 39.93 is a good one for a young top-order player who is still maturing in the domestic competition. Sai has already hit 7 centuries and 5 half-centuries in first-class cricket.

This means he has crossed the 100-run mark seven times and the 50-run mark five times in longer-format matches. Being able to turn good beginnings into massive scores is an indication of a mature mind.

He has also hit 205 fours and 10 sixes, which shows he likes to keep the scoreboard moving without taking too many risks. He has faced 3,554 deliveries in his career so far, with a strike rate of around 55, which is quite decent in red-ball cricket.

Despite being in the early stages of his career, Sai Sudharsan has demonstrated he possesses the capability and temperament to reach the top. His selection for the upcoming India-England Test series is now a great opportunity for him to make a mark at the international level.
