The Indian Women's Squad for the World Cup 2025 and the three-match ODI series against Australia is all set to assemble in Visakhapatnam for the preparatory camp. The development has been reported by Cricbuzz, and it is expected to be a one-week camp starting from August 25.
India Opt For Visakhapatnam To Prepare For Crucial Group Stage Matches
The selection of the venue has been made keeping in mind two crucial games for India in the World Cup. Harmanpreet Kaur's team will play against South Africa and Australia on October 9 and October 12, and thus the camp could help the unit prepare better for those big encounters.
The camp would include stand-bys as well, apart from the 15-member squad announced for the World Cup. According to Cricbuzz, players from the India A squad could also feature in the camp who are currently playing an unofficial Test against New Zealand. The main agenda of the camp is to focus on the skills of players and is an extension of the camp of India probables in Agust, following which the final team was selected.
India To Play Strong Australian Side Before World Cup
It has also been understood that there will be a couple of intra-squad games during the camp. The team is then likely to take a short break before the three-match ODI series against Australia on September 14 in Mullanpur. The series is expected to be a good preparation for the two strong teams ahead of the World Cup.
Recently, Bengaluru was replaced by Navi Mumbai as one of the venues for the marquee event. Indore, Visakhapatnam and Guwahati are the other venues in India, while Colombo will host matches in Sri Lanka.
India will start its campaign with a clash against co-hosts Sri Lanka in the curtain raiser. The Women in Blue will play all their matches in India except the one against Pakistan, which will be played on October 5 in Colombo.
