In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the updated schedule for the upcoming Women's World Cup edition. The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai has officially replaced Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as one of the venues for the showpiece event.

Women's WC Matches Shifted From Bengaluru To Navi Mumbai

As confirmed by the ICC, the Women's World Cup matches that were scheduled at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will now be hosted by the DY Patil Stadium. Therefore, the venue in Navi Mumbai is set to host up to five matches, including three league-stage fixtures, one semifinal clash and potentially the final unless Pakistan Women qualify for the ultimate clash.

However, the timeline of the tournament and the rest of the venues remain unchanged. So, the competition will be played from September 30 to November 2 as per the original schedule, with the games at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium being moved to DY Patil Stadium.

Unless Pakistan Women qualify for the semifinal, those two knockout fixtures will be held in India. Navi Mumbai will host the second semifinal, with Guwahati conducting the preceding fixture at ACA Stadium. On the other hand, if Pakistan enter the knockouts, the first semifinal will be played in Colombo on October 29.

On a similar note, if India and Pakistan play the final, then Colombo will host the ultimate affair of the tournament. Apart from the DY Patil Stadium, venues that will host the Women's World Cup matches are - ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam) and R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka).

The inaugural Women's World Cup match will witness a high-voltage clash between India and Sri Lanka in Guwahati on September 30.
