Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Monday, November 24.

Kane Williamson returns as NZ name squad for West Indies Test

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled New Zealand’s 14-player squad for the upcoming first Test match against the visiting West Indies at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch from December 2 onwards next week. The board included the fast-bowling trio of Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes and Blair Tickner in the squad, while senior man and modern-day batting behemoth Kane Williamson will also be making his return to the national team.

Tom Latham will continue to lead New Zealand, and he will be accompanied by Matt Henry, Rachin Ravindra, and Mitchell Santner, among others.

Marco Jansen skittles India on Day 3 with record six-fer

South Africa fast bowler Marco Jansen picked up a sensational six-wicket haul to bag figures of 6-48 against India on Day 3 of the series-deciding Guwahati Test. His spell helped South Africa blow away the entire Indian line-up for just 201 to gain a huge 288-run lead at the halfway stage.

Marco Jansen also recorded one of the best bowling figures in Test matches played in India by any South African bowler, falling just behind Lance Klusener’s 8-64 and Dale Steyn’s 7-51 in an illustrious list.

Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi renew deal before PSL 2026

The Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi franchises will continue to remain under their current owners, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ahead of the PSL 2026 season. The two franchises have already signed a decade-long deal after renewing their agreement, thus becoming two of the earliest franchises this season to do so. As per the PCB official website, a “comprehensive assessment” was conducted by audit firm Ersnt&Young to determine the market value of both prominent PSL teams.

Addressing the development, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi thanked owners of the respective franchises for elevating their brand name across the country through PSL.

MI Cape Town replaces Tabraiz Shamsi with Kaber for SA20 2025-26

South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has pulled out of the upcoming SA20 2025-26 season from the MI Cape Town franchise, citing personal reasons. It is worth noting that Shamsi was nabbed by the franchise a couple of months ago during the auction. The MI Cape Town franchise has now included all-rounder Thomas Kaber as Shamsi’s replacement in the team.

Kaber, aged 33, previously played nine matches for MI Cape Town across the previous two editions of the SA20 tournament, picking up 10 wickets in the process at an average of 16.10.

Nikhil Chaudhary auditions for Ashes 2025 with thumping Shield ton

Uncapped Australian cricketer Nikhil Chaudhary clattered a quick 163 from 184 balls against New South Wales in match number 14 of the 2025-26 Sheffield Shield Trophy to notch up his maiden first-class century. The Delhi-born cricketer smeared nine fours and five sixes in the innings as Tasmania mounted 623-8d in 154.1 overs at a brisk run rate of over four at the Cricket Central in Sydney.

Scoring at a staggering strike rate of nearly 90, Nikhil Chaudhary’s knock may well have served as a timely reminder to the Australian selectors amid the ongoing 2025-26 Ashes series.
