The Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi franchises will continue to remain with their current Pakistan Super League (PSL) owners, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on November 24. A media release from the board stated that both Qalandars and Zalmi franchises have signed a decade-long deal after renewing their agreement.
It is worth noting that Lahore Qalandars, currently led by Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, is one of the most popular franchises in PSL. Moreover, under the leadership of Shaheen, the Qalandars have won three out of the last four PSL titles, and will enter the 2026 edition of the tournament next year as defending champions.
The Peshawar Zalmi, on the other hand, won their lone PSL trophy back in 2017.
Lahore Qalandars, Zalmi renew deal after “comprehensive assessment”
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi franchises have both committed to their current owners for the next 10 PSL seasons. In his official statement, Naqvi thanked Atif Rana and Sameen Rana for turning three-time winners Qalandars into a “household name” in Pakistan, and credited Javed Afridi for elevating the Zalmi brand into “one of the most dynamic and admired sporting entities” in the country.
Both Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi were among the first franchises ahead of the PSL 2026 season to extend their agreement. The official confirmation was made after their market value was as determined through a “comprehensive assessment” by Ersnt&Young, a credible and respected audit firm.
The long-term extension reflects the franchises’ confidence in PSL’s expanding commercial and sporting value, also evidenced by the board’s decision of reportedly adding two news teams. With two of its most popular teams committing early, the league moves into 2026 backed by continuity and growing financial strength.
Both Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi franchises will now shape their squads for the PSL 2026 season next year.
