William Pucovski was once considered as the brightest young talents in Australia, but series of blows on his head throughout his career halted his progress. According to the reports, the right-handed batter has finally decided to leave the game at the age of just 26 ending his long tryst with on-field head injuries.

The news has been confirmed by Tom Morris from Nine News. He has reaveled that the independent panel of experts recommended Pucovski to retire three months ago as the batter was suffering from concusssion symptoms even weeks after the blow. He has also not been seen training in the recent past and it was just a matter of time before he decides to hang his boots.

Pucovski played one Test for Australia against India in 2021, and even before he made his debut, he had already taken plenty of blows on his head. However, the lastest blow came in March 2024 in a Sheffield Shield match against Riley Meredith and the 13th blow has proved to be the final nail in the coffin.

Timeline Of Will Pucovski's Concussion Injuries

Will Pucovski who scored fifty on his debut, suffered a first blow on his head during the high school football match and then was hit on the head during a net practice as a teenager. He even banged his head on a door at home and the series of injuries continued with a blow on the head on his first class debut in February 2017.

In the same year, he was hit on the helmet in games against Queensland and Tasmania while in March 2018, he got hit by a bouncer while playing against New South Wales. In 2020, he suffered another setback and again got hit by a bouncer from Mohammed Siraj during his Test debut.

The trend continued in 2021 and 2022, and after going injury free in 2023, he suffered two hits on his head in early part of 2024, which has unfortunately brought a permanent full stop to his career.
