Australia's Will Pucovski 'Concussed' For 11th Time After Latest Head Blow

Concussion troubles just seem to not leave young Australian batter Will Pucovski, as he was forced to retire hurt on Monday (January 22) following the latest blow to the head.

Pucovski, considered an Aussie batting prodigy, was playing a second XI red-ball game for Victoria against South Australia when the incident happened as the right-hander, whose technique facing short-pitched deliveries has been under scrutiny, fell down on his haunches.

Taking on opposition right-arm seamer David Grant's bouncer, Puvoski got struck on his helmet. The pain endured from the blow was so hard that the batter immediately dropped his gear and took some time away from the pitch while he was attended by the medical staff and his batting partner Nick Maddinson. The batter was thankfully good enough to resume batting soon after passing a concussion test.

Even South Australian players showed their concern for the batter, who has been repeatedly concussed during his first-class and Test career. Pucovski's short-pitch troubles have rained on his parade despite being identified as one of Australia's most talented players.

This is now the third reported instance of Pucovski leaving the field after receiving a blow to his head from a bouncer and finding himself dizzy. The 25-year-old batter could've made his debut for Australia back during the 2018-19 season, but a bout with concussion and dizziness ruled him out of playing action for a considerable period.

The youngster had to wait until the New Year's Test of the 2020-21 summer for his maiden opportunity in Sydney against India. However, his concussion troubles reappeared following a blow to the head from the Indian pacers. He took a break from the game and has since strived to forge a comeback into the Test match reckoning.

Pucovski, who made scores of 62 and 10 versus India, has played 34 first-class matches with 2,197 runs at an average of 43.94, including six centuries and nine fifties.
