No Place For Shaheen Afridi As Pakistan Reveal 12-Man Team For Second Test Vs Bangladesh

Shaheen Afridi, the talismanic left-handed seamer has not been included in the 12-man team revealed by Pakistan ahead of the second Test. It is a big move from the home side after a humiliating loss in the first Test and the likes of Mir Hamza and Abrar Ahmed have been added to the unit.

Pakistan went out with all-pace attack in their XI for the first Test and it backfired badly with Pakistan pacers proving ineffective on a docile pitch. In place of Shaheen Afridi, Mir Hamza could come into the XI as a like-for-like replacement.

Mohammad Ali is also likely to be dropped to accomodate Abrar Ahmed, a spinner who was badly missed in the first Test. Rest of the team is same with Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub opening the innings while the middle order will boast of familiar names like Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan.

Salman Ali Agha could not deliver both with the bat and ball in the first Test, but to keep that all-round balance and spin option in the XI, he might play the second Test as well.

Reason For Shaheen Afridi's Ouster Not Clear

However, the reason for dropping Shaheen Afridi is still not clear. He was not at his best in the first Test, but if he is available, dropping him after just one Test is a big move. Another reason could be his unavailability because of the birth of his child.

There were rumours though that he had a fight with Shan Masood during the first Test match, and if that is a reason for his ouster, it is not a good sign for Pakistan.

Overall, Pakistan would be itching to prove a point and level the series in the second Test and shut down their distractors with a win.
