Indian captain Rohit Sharma was spotted having an intense discussion with young teammate Sarfaraz Khan during a nets training session ahead of team’s fifth and final Test match against the visiting English team.

Sarfaraz, who pounded scores of 62 and 68* to cap a remarkable Test debut last month, failed to prolong his prolific first-class run in Ranchi, considering he was dismissed for a duck during India’s middle-order collapse at the venue.

A day prior to the launch of the fifth Test between England and hosts India on a lively Dharamshala surface, home captain Rohit Sharma was spotted having an intense discussion with young Sarfaraz Khan.

After capping a remarkable Test debut in Rajkot, Sarfaraz failed to justify his selection at Ranchi where he managed to tally just 14 runs across both innings of the contest.

With several Indian players taking to nets for a training session, the 26-year-old can be seen receiving several key batting notes from his senior teammate and captain in a bid to counter the impending hostilities of Dharamshala’s seam-friendly surface.

Earlier in the series, Team India lost the opening Test match by 28 runs despite having gained a huge 190-run advantage at the halfway stage of the game.

Rohit Sharma and co. bounced back at Vizag with a 106-run series-levelling win, and further registered their biggest ever Test win to go 2-1 up at Rajkot. Having sealed the series with a five-wicket triumph at Ranchi late last month, the Indian team will be aiming for a 4-1 finish to strengthen their grip on the WTC 2023-25 points table.

The much-awaited Dharamshala Test will be staged at the HPCA Stadium between March 7 and March 11.
