India (IND) and England (ENG) are ready to take on each other in the fifth and final match of the Test series. This match will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on the 7th of March at 9:30 AM IST.

Ahead of the game, here is a look at the best captain and vice-captain choices, the top player stats and the players you might avoid for this game.

IND vs ENG - Toss Factor

The pitch at the Dharamsala Stadium will favour the bowlers, especially on the first morning of the match. However, batters who are ready to give the initial few deliveries to the bowlers will be able to score runs on this wicket.

Given the nature of the wicket and the stats of the only Test match played here, the skipper winning the toss will look to field first.

Scenario: If India win the toss

  • Rohit Sharma has a very good pace-battery. With the playing conditions expected to help the seamers initially, Rohit will look to field first. In this case, Indian pacers like Bumrah and Siraj will be very good picks for the game.
  • As far as the batters are concerned, Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan will be good choices. Though with his form in the series, Yashasvi Jaiswal is the safest choice, but batters from the middle-order could be rewarding.

Scenario: If England win the toss

  • Ben Stokes also has a good pace arsenal. He, too, will look to field first on winning the toss. If the visitors do field first in the game, James Anderson and Mark Wood will be the best choices for the game.
  • Joe Root has regained his form in the last game. He will be a prime choice from the batter section for this match.

Jasprit Bumrah (IND)

The prime Indian pacer will be the best for India in the game. He returns to the squad for this game after not playing in the fourth match. Jasprit Bumrah was the stand-out bowler for India in the first three Tests. His ability to pick up wickets with both the new and old ball makes him a must-choice for the game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (IND)

The young Indian opener is having a golden time with the bat in the series. Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 655 runs in 8 innings and would be a safe choice for the game.

Dhruv Jurel (IND)

The Indian wicket-keeper impressed everyone with his temperament in the last match. He is in form, and the fact that Jurel is expected to bat at a favourable time makes him a top choice for the game.

Scenario: If England win the match

Joe Root (ENG)

The English middle-order batter scored a hundred in the last game and will be looking to carry the momentum ahead in this one. The fact that he can also contribute with the ball makes Joe Root a pretty safe choice for the match.

James Anderson (ENG)

Though Anderson did not perform to expectations in the last game, he will be an important pick for the match, given the playing conditions.

IND vs ENG - High Risk, High Reward

Shubman Gill (IND)

The Indian top-order batter has looked in decent touch with the bat in the last two games. If the Indian opening pair can see through the new ball, Gill can cash in and score runs in the match.

Jonny Bairstow (ENG)

The English middle-order batter has not been in form in the series. But the wicket at the Dharamsala might favour his style of batting. Bairstow will be a brilliant differential choice for the game.

IND vs ENG Stay Aways

Rohit Sharma (IND)

The Indian skipper sometimes struggles on wickets with lateral movement. The pitch at Dharamsala will provide movement to the seamers in the initial stages. If Rohit Sharma can leave the ball in the initial stages, he might score big. But given his previous records on seaming wickets, Rohit Sharma will be a highly risky choice for the fantasy contests of the match.

Ben Duckett (ENG)

The English left-handed opener is a compulsive driver, especially at the beginning of his innings. With the ball seaming around, Duckett might not be a preferrable option for the game.
