As the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) prepare for the IPL 2024 finals, captain Shreyas Iyer has added a unique twist to the team's preparations by mimicking Sunil Narine's distinctive bowling action during practice sessions, thus leading to speculations of Iyer donning bowler's hat on Sunday.
KKR, under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir, had a dream run in the IPL 2204 season as they finished as the table toppers by the tournament's business end of things.
Not only that, KKR overpowered SRH in the Qualifier 1 game to book a direct entry to the final of the 17th edition of IPL, which is now scheduled for Sunday, where KKR will once again battle it out with SRH to claim the ultimate trophy.
Shreyas Iyer invoked his inner Sunil Narine!
That being said, ahead of the important game, KKR touched down at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai to kick-start their preparations for the ultimate finals. KKR camp organised a practice session earlier today as captain Shreyas Iyer, along with his troops, walked out to bat in the net session.
However, after his batting practice, Iyer surprisingly turned up to bowl a few deliveries and dramatically emulated his KKR teammate Sunil Narine's action.
The visuals led to speculations of Iyer possibly leading the charge as a bowler on the eve of the IPL 2024 season finals against SRH on Sunday in Chennai.
Notably, Shreyas Iyer is a part-time spinner who can chip in a few overs if his team needs him. However, KKR is unlikely to need his services as in-form Sunil Narine will continue to lead the spin attack.
