T20 World Cup-bound Indian off-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bagged an unwanted T20 record last night during Qualifier 2 between SRH and RR as he became the bowler to allow the most number of sixes off his bowling in IPL’s 17-year-long history.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 36 runs in Qualifier 2 to crash out of the IPL 2024 season after a stellar start.

Yuzvendra Chahal, meanwhile, was ordinary in his four overs spell as he bagged no wickets and allowed 34 runs, that too on a wicket that assisted spinners.

Chahal also got hit for 3 sixes in Chepauk as his all-time high league tally soared to 224, the highest in IPL’s history. Yuzvendra Chahal surpassed Piyush Chawla (222) to become the bowler to concede the most number of sixes in IPL’s history.

Not only that, the off-spinner conceded 30 sixes this season alone which is the second most by a bowler in a single edition of IPL.

Notably, Yuzi had an abysmal IPL season with RR this year. He finished with 18 wickets in 15 games, with an 9.41 economy rate, which is also the first time Chahal posed an economy rate of over 9 in IPL.

While Yuzi kicked off the season on a high with 10 wickets in the first five games to bag the purple cap, he fell off the bandwagon in May. And RR bore the repercussions by missing out on the top 2 finish by the end of league stages.

Moreover, with the 2024 T20 World Cup on the horizon, Yuzvendra Chahal’s present form is even more concerning to the Indian fans at large.
