One of the most controversial players in the recent era, Naveen-ul-Haq, has been in the news after his fallout with Indian superstar Virat Kohli during the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Naveen was thoroughly backed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor Gautam Gambhir, who already had an old feud with Kohli.

Naveen's gesture caused great trouble as the massive fanbase of Kohli went against him to mock the pacer every now and then. The fans took to social media and didn't miss any opportunity to take the Afghan bowler down.

To the unversed, Naveen, apart from Kohli's massive confrontation, was involved in several other exchanges in different leagues across the globe. Therefore, on the occasion of his birthday, here is the list of all the controversies he has been a part of:

1. Naveen vs Shahid Afridi & Mohammed Amir, LPL 2020

Well, it's a no-hidden secret that Pakistani and Afghanistani cricketers have been at loggerheads multiple times in the past, and this has been no different. During the 2020 edition of the Lanka Premier League, Naveen went after Mohammed Amir while he was bowling, with both players engaging in multiple exchanges during the game.

The match ended in Naveen's favour, however, things didn't settle down easily as Shahid Afridi, Amir's captain in that match, went after the Afghanistan pacer during the post-match handshakes and even then, things didn't boil down.

Later, Afridi went to Twitter (Now X) and wrote, “My advise to the young player was simple, play the game and don’t indulge in abusive talk. I have friends in the Afghanistan team, and we have very cordial relations. Respect for teammates and opponents is the basic spirit of the game."

However, Naveen didn't stay quiet to this as well and in reply wrote: “Always ready to take advice and give respect, Cricket is a gentleman’s game, but if someone says you all are under our feet and will stay there (sic) then he is not only talking about me but also talking abt my ppl.”

2. Naveen vs Thisara Perera, LPL 2021

Lanka Premier League seems like Naveen's favourite as the fast bowler, a year after the massive controversy mentioned above, had a face-off against Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera after their collision while running. The duo didn't back down a bit as the umpires had to intervene and take hold of the matter.

3. Naveen vs D'Arcy Short, BBL 2022-23

Australian big-hitter D'Arcy Short bumped into Naveen-ul-Haq during the last season of the Big Bash League (BBL) that, saw tension rising as the latter fell on the ground. Short knocked out Naveen, and later, Naveen complained to the umpires regarding the actions that caused the spat.

Anyway, Naveen, after being ignored from the Asia Cup by the Afghanistan side, has been called up for the upcoming World Cup 2023 that will take place in India. Therefore, his nemesis Kohli will again go head-to-head against him on 11th October in Delhi.
