The first ODI of the three-match series between England and Ireland turned out to be a washout, with rain pouring down in Leeds. However, the 2nd game is likely to be a full encounter at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on 23rd September, Saturday and is expected to be a tight contest with slightly shorter boundaries.
ENG vs IRE: Team Previews
England
With the departure of senior pro-Joe Root, this English side is now a totally inexperienced one, with Zak Crawley being the skipper of the side as all the big names prepare to board the flight to India for the World Cup 2023. In Root's place, Tom Kohler-Cadmore is the new entrant only because another big star, Jason Roy, was denied the opportunity.
Crawley, being the skipper, will be leading in his second game as he couldn't get the opportunity in the first, which practically makes it his first match as the leader of Three Lions.
A lot of debutants could be lined up for the game, which could feature the likes of Sam Hain, George Scrimshaw and Jamie Smith, but only one or two might be in the game at this stage. The side is relatively newer, and the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) might potentially be looking to rebuild the team after the mega event.
Ireland
The Irish have a lot to prove only because they lost the World Cup Qualifiers back in June, which demolished their hopes of being in the World Cup. Now, against an English side with new faces, the challenge won't be a simple one, but they will have to stand up for themselves.
Recently appointed skipper Paul Stirling comes with a wealth of experience under his belt alongside former captain Andrew Balbirnie, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, George Dockrell and Joshua Little.
The onus will be on the middle-order to score the bulk of runs and save them from another embarrassment as they haven't been able to play cricket at their potential.

ENG vs IRE: Nottingham Pitch Report
Known for high-scoring matches, Trent Bridge sees plenty of sixes with a shorter boundary on one side of the ground. The pitch is always a belter with runs flowing easily while the bowlers find it hard to adjust their lengths.

ENG vs IRE: Winner Prediction
The Irish do look solid but never undermine the England side, even with youngsters in the side they are the team to beat.
