India Women will go up against their Bangladeshi counterparts in the first semi-final of the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou. The winner of the match will storm into the final, set to be played at the same venue on September 25.

The Indian Women’s team recently thumped Bangladesh Women by a 2-1 margin in their three-match series in Mirpur. Winning the first two matches to seal the series, an insurgent Bangladeshi unit fought back in the dead rubber to avoid a whitewash at home.

The ‘Women in Blue’ also reached the semi-final of the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup played out in South Africa earlier this year. The Indian side suffered a close five-run defeat at the hands of eventual winners Australia in the tournament’s knockout fixture.

Bangladesh Women will be aiming to shrug off their past demons against a strong Indian side, if they are to seal their spot at the Asian Games final this week. In the last 10 T20I meetings between the two sides, Bangladesh have emerged victorious only thrice as opposed to their seven defeats.

Nigar Sultana and her troops did however managed to upstage the Indians in their latest meeting back in July in Mirpur.
